NY Food Finds- So Dam Hot

So Dam Hot (10 Broadway, Valhalla, NY 10595) is a small mainly take-out restaurant located in Valhalla, NY. Its so small, in fact, many people would pass right on by; but it is located on a main strip in a small town. I was brought here by a friend, Jon, who wanted to partake in their "Wing Challenge". Wing Challenges are something that I've heard of in the past, but never had the pleasure of witnessing myself. This challenge's main source of heat is, ironically enough, called "The Source". The Source is so hot, its creators call it "The Hottest Hot Sauce on Earth!", and I won't fight them on it. It contains 7.1 MILLION Scoville units of heat which, by comparison, is more than law-enforcement grade pepper spray. A bottle of this stuff goes for $84.95 on their website, which is linked here

Thankfully, I video recorded the challenge for you guys and here it is:

I won't give away the ending, but here is Jon's face after The Challenge:
I tried to make him smile, but clearly, he was not happy.

Anyway, besides The Wing Challenge, So Dam Hot actually has some good eats! They're famous for "Chubber Fries" ($7.49) which are a bed of French Fries topped with Chicken Finger bits, Bacon, and your choice of Dressing (Jon recommends it with Ranch). You can also pick up an "I <3 Chubber Fries" T-Shirt while you're there.

This is the menu board you see immediately upon walking in.

I am not one to enter a wing challenge because I don't like THAT much heat, but I am a lover of chicken wings. I ordered 6 Wings with Honey Maple BBQ Sauce ($4.49) and they were fantastic. Actually, I'd say some of the best I've had! They make them fresh to order, so as they say on their website "We make our wings fresh, so when we tell you it takes 15 minutes to cook them, don't ask if we can cook them faster. We don't sell our wings medium rare". This restaurant has a type of attitude you don't always see, and it is really what makes it a unique little place.

Yes, there are only 3 left. I really have to learn that if I'm going to
write a food blog I have to take the pictures before I eat the food.

Here are a few more photos of So Dam Hot that I can share with y'all:
They don't serve milk at all at this place. Jon had to run to the convenience store (very close) to get the gallon.

All of the Sauces that So Dam Hot has.
Notice "The Source" is missing from its pedestal because they were cooking The Challenge wings at the time.

The Source. Enough Said.

This place is an experience. If you think you can handle The Wing Challenge, I'd strongly suggest heading up to Valhalla to take it on. Note though, that only 23 people have completed it in the restaurants history. If you're not so inclined, I'd still recommend this place (if you're local). The wings are good and cheap, just don't give the counter guys attitude or I'm sure they'd throw it right back at 'cha.

NY Food Finds- Westchester Burger Company

This weeks NY Food Find comes to us from White Plains, NY. Located in south central Westchester County, White Plains is an approximate 50 minute drive to New York City. Westchester Burger Company (106 Westchester Ave., White Plains, NY 10601) opened its doors this past fall and had a lot of people excited for its arrival. I'd passed by the restaurant several times before opening and was pleasantly surprised when one day I saw a chalkboard menu outside stating they were open! Since that day, I've eaten at WBC several times and I'd like to share a couple of my favorite finds with you!

First, I love the Bacon Cheeseburger Spring Rolls (Pictured Below, $7). The side of Chipotle Ketchup has a nice kick but is not too spicy at all. Share them with a friend and let your fingers a little greasy before your main course.
Okay fine, you caught me. My greasy finger prints are on the left of the plate.
I couldn't wait to take out my camera before I took a bite.

For a main course, your best bet is clearly a burger... I mean, this place is called Westchester BURGER Company for a reason. My two personal favorite Ultimate Burgers are The Hang Over (10 oz., Monterey Jack Cheese, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Fried Egg. $15) and The Entourage (Pictured Below. 10 oz. Burger between a Double Stacked Grilled Cheese on Sourdough Bread. $14). If you order The Entourage, make sure to order a side of bacon, as if the rest wouldn't give you a heart attack already.
Look at those cute little pickles they put on top of The Entourage!
(Side of bacon not pictured.)

So, the next time you're shopping at The Westchester Mall (which is directly across the street from WBC) stop in for some fast upscale bar food!
